Actions to foreclose a lien on real property are filed as a general civil case, either in Circuit Court or County Court depending upon the amount owed. Circuit Court has jurisdiction for cases exceeding $50,000 and County Court up to and including $50,000.

A foreclosure case is initiated when a lis pendens is filed. After the case goes through court, a final judgment is issued by the judge outlining the sale date, time and amount. Foreclosure sales are held online atRealAuctionand administered by Real Foreclose. Specific documents in the foreclosure case are filed in theOfficial Records.The Clerk sells property pursuant to court order and cannot guarantee a clear title. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to research the property prior to the sale date. The Clerk’s office is not authorized to give legal advice or assist in the research of properties.

Formal Notice: Electronic Service of Certificates of Title

Effective Date: June 1, 2026

The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller of St. Lucie County hereby provides notice that, effective June 1, 2026, the Clerk’s Office will commence the electronic service (eService) of unrecorded Certificates of Title.

Upon issuance of a Certificate of Title, the Clerk’s Office will electronically serve an unrecorded copy to all parties listed in the case who have provided valid email addresses. Plaintiffs or their representatives are responsible for supplying postage-paid envelopes for any parties who have not provided email addresses.

Following the official recording of the Certificate of Title by the Official Records Department, the corresponding recording information will be made available on the case docket.

Parties seeking an electronically certified copy may do so through the Clerk’s E-Certify system by ordering Official Records online. Applicable fees and costs will apply.Electronically certified records may be reused, unlike traditional paper certifications. Any document recorded in the county’s Official Records and accessible online is eligible for electronic certification. Confidential documents that are not available online may be requested electronically or obtained in person at the Clerk’s Office; additional service fees may apply.

Edna Lopez

Circuit Civil Manager

Edna has been with the Clerk’s office since 2013. She first began working as a Record Clerk in Family Relations before transferring to the Juvenile Department where she became the manager in January 2017. As the Juvenile Manager, she is responsible for managing the daily operations of the department and ensuring all state guidelines are being met. Edna has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and has taken courses towards her MBA. Edna is also an adjunct instructor at Indian River State College where she assists high school students in a college-readiness program called TRIO.
